Jeremy Laurange grew up locally and often visited the Hawthorne Valley Farm while his mother, Pam, worked in the HVF Creamery. In 2002, he became a part-time baker and continued on in various roles at the Store while pursuing a degree in Fine Arts at Columbia-Greene Community College. Over the years, Jeremy has worked as a baker, cashier, buyer, and operations manager before becoming the manager in 2015.
In his current position as manager, Jeremy leads 40+ employees to champion the Store’s threefold objective to serve the Farm and community socially, economically, and ecologically. “That includes being the ‘Gateway to the Farm,’ fiscally supporting the Farm, bringing affordable Biodynamic® and organic food to the community, and fostering relationships with local and sustainable growers and producers,” he said.
Over the years, Jeremy developed a passion for organic, local foods and products, and a love for spreadsheets. “Working for Hawthorne Valley for so many years has been great because you feel you are part of something good: good food, good people, good environment,” he says. “You can see that the work we do here has a positive impact on those around us, including our fellow staff members, and that’s very satisfying.”
