Hawthorne Valley is thrilled to announce that Episode 9 of Season 2 of our Roots to Renewal podcast is now live! Join Hawthorne Valley's Executive Director, Martin Ping, as he sits down with artist and Place Corps co-founder, Dawn Breeze. They dive into the origins and goals of Place Corps, a gap year fellowship program founded in 2019 dedicated to helping young people find their calling and build a sense of community.
In their conversation, Dawn speaks to the integral role community partnerships plays in the education provided by Place Corps.
“It's important for the young people to see and learn what is around them,” she says. “Oftentimes young people feel and imagine that their possibility lies beyond their place, and they don't know all the different kinds of creative offerings and businesses and startups and longtime projects that exist in their place. It's very important for us to unveil the opportunity that exists and also connect those stakeholders and those youth directly with those people of their place—it's such an essential part of this connection of belonging.”
Tune in to hear more of their inspiring conversation about creativity, community engagement, regenerative practices, and fostering personal growth and positive change by searching for Roots to Renewal wherever you get your podcasts, or on our website here.
