“Mary’s vision, ethics and pioneering leadership have been a source of inspiration to many, including myself,” said Martin Ping, HVA Executive Director. “I am thrilled that she and her colleagues at The Cleaver Co. are receiving this recognition of their good work, and we congratulate them on their accomplishments.”
Mary Cleaver is one of the country’s foremost authorities on sustainable food and local sourcing. She founded The Cleaver Co., a full-service event planning and catering operation in New York City, and The Green Table, a farm-to-table restaurant in the Chelsea Market. Both are widely recognized for utilizing local farms and purveyors in order to obtain the best quality product, and for supporting small to mid-size farms and family farmers. Most recently, Mary opened two food and beverage kiosks at The Battery in partnership with The Battery Conservancy, known as Table Green and Table Green Café, to bring a local focus to concession-style food and drink.
Mary was among a number of leaders in business, culture, and nonprofits who were recognized by the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce. To read more about the award and the award winners, click here.
