Please join our Farmscape Ecology team for their monthly Open House that will include a brief presentation by FEP intern Molly Fava at 7pm on the latest insect Sound Maps she created.
Have you ever wondered about the habitats and neighborhoods of the crickets or katydids singing in our fields and shrublands? We use a gridded array of custom-built sound recorders (designed by Jules Madey) to make visual representations of insect songs in the landscape across time and space – a new way to see the nature you’re hearing!
As always during Open House, we’ll provide some basic food for a shared meal starting at 6pm. There is also the opportunity to browse in the natural history and agricultural library, and to take a brief stroll through the native plant garden, which has largely gone to seed. You can even plan on collecting some seeds for your own garden. Please RSVP if you plan to come with a party of more than two people. Else, please just walk in!
