Please join us for this free ecology walk guided by Conrad and Claudia Vispo on Sat., March. 16, 2019, 1-3pm at CLC’s Overmountain Conservation Area in Ancram. This walk will be an opportunity to observe the remains of historical charcoal pits in our landscape and experience the legacy of this land use in our forest. If you wish to learn more about the history and locations of charcoal production in Columbia County, please check out the Farmscape Ecology Program’s new Charcoal Website. Along the way, we will also have a closer look at the plant life as it transitions from winter to spring, and try to find signs of animal life. Please register here to reserve your space and get directions.
