NYC & Surrounding Area
Via Taconic State Parkway – Travel time: 2.5 hours
- Take the Taconic State Parkway North until Harlemville/Philmont/217/21c exit.
- Turn right at the end of the exit ramp heading East towards Harlemville and travel 1½ miles to Hawthorne Valley.
– Farm and Association Administrative Offices will be on the Left.
– Waldorf School will be on the Right.
– To reach the Farmscape Ecology Program Creekhouse, continue through Harlemville and make your first Left onto Harlemville Road. The Creekhouse is about 1/2 mile up on the Left. It has brown siding and is visible from the Main Campus.
Note: Commercial vehicles are not allowed on the Taconic Parkway. Follow the directions Via I-87 if you are coming in a commercial vehicle from NYC and points south.
Via I-87
- Take the NYS Thruway to Exit 21
- Follow signs for Route 23 East and stay on Route 23 over the Rip Van Winkle Bridge.
- Follow Route 23 East to the 2nd traffic light (approx. 5 miles), which is the intersection of Routes 9H, 23, and 82.
- Make a left at the light onto 9H/23.
- Follow for 4 miles into town of Claverack.
- At light, make a right onto Route 23 East.
- Follow approx. 1½ miles then take a left onto Route 217 which branches off to the left (there is a sign for Philmont).
- Follow Route 217 through the town of Philmont and continue until it passes under the Taconic State Parkway, at which point the road changes to route 21C.
- Hawthorne Valley is 1½ miles from where the Taconic State Parkway crosses the road.
– Farm and Association Administrative Offices will be on the Left.

- Follow signs to Boston (Interstate 90 East).
- Take Exit B2 for the Taconic State Parkway.
- Head South on Taconic State Parkway and follow as above from NYC via Taconic State Parkway, exiting at the Harlemville/Philmont/217/21C.

Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire
- Connect with Mass Pike (I-90) heading West, crossing into New York State.
- Take Exit B2 for the Taconic State Parkway and head South.
- Follow as above from NYC via Taconic State Parkway, exiting at the Harlemville/Philmont/217/21C.
