Thank you to @washingtonwaldorfschool for sharing these images and reminiscing on trips to the farm!
On Thursday, May 12, the New York State Department On Thursday, May 12, the New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets informed us that they had a positive detection for Listeria Monocytogenes in a milk sample pulled from our bulk tank on Tuesday, May 3. We immediately pulled all milk from our cooler. Listeria Monocytogenes is a harmful bacteria that can cause Listeriosis. Any raw milk that was purchased since 5/2 must be discarded. The milk will be retested by the state until it is confirmed that is safe again to consume.

Hawthorne Valley Farm is taking steps to find out the source of the contamination and is diligently addressing any potentially affected areas. Please note that our other dairy products are still approved for sale and completely safe to consume. Our customers' health is our primary concern and we hope to have our raw milk back on the shelves soon.

If you purchased raw milk from our Farm Store between the dates of May 2nd and May 12th, please discard any unused portions immediately. You may contact the Farm Store for a full refund by calling (518) 672-7500 (x2) and requesting to speak with a shift supervisor. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to the creamery at dairy@hawthornevalleyfarm.org.
More information is available at the link in our bio.

At long last, we are nearing the end of the front- At long last, we are nearing the end of the front-end reset in the store! We hope you are all finding the new set up—with the walk through registers, a more spacious coffee bar area, and a second exit—much more welcoming and easier to navigate, especially at busy moments of the day.

There will still be a few additional changes and improvements in the coming weeks as we settle into our new format. We are grateful for your patience throughout this process!
The Climate Farm School program at Terra.do is a u The Climate Farm School program at Terra.do is a unique opportunity for adult professionals to live and work on a farm for a week while learning about regenerative agriculture and sustainable food systems. Portraits of the gals ✨ Hawthorne Valley’s app Portraits of the gals ✨ Hawthorne Valley’s apprenticeship program welcomes new farmers to our campus each year. These new apprentices learn the ins and outs of farm life and work to build personal relationships with the herd-all while we in turn learn from them. These beautiful portraits of some of our beloved ladies in the milking barn were taken by one of this year’s apprentices, @pablo_rego. We think they perfectly capture the personalities and individual nuances that make each of the herd members unique.
